Jihad per Quran
9:73 O PROPHET! Strive hard against the deniers of the truth and the hypocrites, and be adamant with them.* And [if they do not repent,] their goal shall be hell -and how vile a journey's end!
৯:৭৩
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ جَاهِدِ الْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَمَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ
হে নবী! কাফিৰ আৰু মুনাফিকসকলৰ বিৰুদ্ধে জিহাদ☎️ কৰা, সিহঁতৰ প্ৰতি কঠোৰ হোৱা; আৰু সিহঁতৰ আবাসস্থল জাহান্নাম, আৰু সেয়া কিমান যে নিকৃষ্ট প্ৰত্যাৱৰ্তন স্থল!

I.e., "do not compromise with them in matters of principle". Regarding the meaning of the verb jahada ("he strove hard", i.e., in a righteous cause), see surah 4:95∆, note **. The imperative jahid☎️ is obviously used here in its spiritual connotation, implying efforts at convincing both the outspoken unbelievers and the waverers, including the various types of hypocrites spoken of in the preceding passages. Although the imperative is addressed in the first instance to the Prophet, it is considered to be morally binding on all believers.

4:95∆ SUCH of the believers as remain passive¶ - other than the disabled - cannot be deemed equal to those who strive hard in God's cause with their possessions and their lives:** God has exalted those who strive hard with their possessions and their lives far above those who remain passive. Although God has promised the ultimate good unto all [believers], yet has God exalted those who strive hard above those who remain passive by [promising them] a mighty reward -

Lit., "who sit [at home]"- i.e., who do not participate in the struggle in God's cause, be it physical or moral.

The term mujahid is derived from the verb jahada, which means "he struggled" or "strove hard" or "exerted himself", namely, in a good cause and against evil. Consequently, jihad denotes "striving in the cause of God" in the widest sense of this expression: that is to say, it applies not merely to physical warfare (qital) but to any righteous struggle in the moral sense as well; thus, for instance, the Prophet described man's struggle against his own passions and weaknesses (jihad an-nafs) as the "greatest jihad".

The Quranic definition of the word Jihad:
The literal definition of the word Jihad is: striving to achieve a goal, while the Quranic definition of the word is: striving with one's self and one's money in the cause of God. This definition is confirmed in a number of Quranic verses such as:
Rather, the believers are those who believe in God and His messenger, then have no doubt and strive (jahadu) with their money and themselves in the cause of God. Those are the truthful ones. *49:15
Those who believed, emigrated and strove (jahadu) in the cause of God with their money and themselves hold the greatest rank with God; those are the winners. 9:20
But the messenger and those who believed with him, they strove (jahadu) with their money and themselves. Those will have good things, and those are the successful ones. 9:88
p.s. the word 'jahadu' is the past tense verb of the noun Jihad.

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الصَّادِقُونَ
মুমিন কেৱল তেওঁলোকেই, যিসকলে আল্লাহ আৰু তেওঁৰ ৰাছুলৰ প্ৰতি ঈমান আনিছে, তাৰ পিছত সন্দেহ পোষণ কৰা নাই লগতে তেওঁলোকে জান-মালৰ সৈতে আল্লাহৰ পথত জিহাদ কৰিছে। তেওঁলোকেই সত্যনিষ্ঠ।

৯:২০
الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ
যিসকলে ঈমান আনিছে, হিজৰত কৰিছে আৰু নিজৰ সম্পদ আৰু নিজৰ জীৱনৰ দ্বাৰা আল্লাহৰ পথত জিহাদ কৰিছে তেওঁলোক আল্লাহৰ ওচৰত মৰ্যাদাত শ্ৰেষ্ঠ, আৰু তেওঁলোকেই সাফল্যমণ্ডিত।

৯:৮৮
لَٰكِنِ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ جَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ ۚ وَأُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمُ الْخَيْرَاتُ ۖ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
কিন্তু ৰাছুল আৰু তেওঁৰ লগত যিসকলে ঈমান আনিছে তেওঁলোকে নিজ সম্পদ আৰু জীৱনৰ দ্বাৰা আল্লাহৰ পথত জিহাদ কৰিছে; তেওঁলোকৰ বাবেই আছে যাৱতীয় কল্যাণ আৰু তেওঁলোকেই সাফল্যমণ্ডিত।)
